R Kelly is being sued for sexual battery by a woman who alleges mental, verbal and sexual abuse along with false imprisonment and claims the R&B singer "knowingly and intentionally" infected her with an STD.
Faith Rodgers, 20, told "CBS This Morning" Tuesday she met Kelly in San Antonio, Texas last March at a concert afterparty.
Despite the abuse, Rodgers claims that she and Kelly dated for about a year, in which time he mentally and physically abused her.
Kelly is one of pop music's best-selling artists, with hits including "Ignition", "I Believe I Can Fly", and "Bump N' Grind".
He "routinely recorded (Rodgers) without her consent", abused and berated her, and "locked (her) in secluded areas including rooms, studios and motor vehicles, for extended periods of time in order to punish (her) for failing to please (him) sexually", the lawsuit alleges.
Rodgers claims the musician flew her out to one of his concerts in NY where she stayed at a hotel.
The allegations are the latest in a series of accusations of sexual misconduct against Kelly, who recently became the subject of an online movement to #MuteRKelly.
Earlier this month the streaming service Spotify removed Kelly's music from all its playlists and algorithmic recommendations as part of its policy on hate content and hateful conduct. After Kelly's show, Rodgers claims the singer came to her room, disregarded her statements that she was "not ready to have sex", and "initiated non-consensual oral and vaginal intercourse".
Rodgers says a few months later, in May, she was given travel arrangements go to NYC and meet up with Kelly after a concert. "I kinda just froze up". The article alleged that Kelly targets young women and lures them into his circle, keeps them inside his home, controls their lives, and forbids them from making contact with the outside world.
R Kelly has not yet responded to Faith's allegations. "You know?" she said, adding that he also recorded their sexual activity on his iPad without her permission. They communicated over phone in the months following before Kelly flew her out to NY. Mr. Kelly for 30 years has sung songs about his love and passion for women. "So I was just waiting for it to be over", Rodgers said. I was embarrassed; it's not something that's going to go away.
Faith claims she discovered that she had contracted herpes.
