The Goa government has formed a committee, headed by the state's Health Secretary, to draw a protocol to deal with Nipah virus cases, if any, in the state.
Moosa as well as two of his sons and another relative died after testing positive for Nipah virus. The symptoms may last 10-12 days followed by unconsciousness and death as a result of brain fever, the advisory said. It has been mentioned in the matter of what precautionary measures should be taken in the high-risk areas, and this information has been given as to how this disease spreads and its symptoms.
A decision in this regard has been taken at a meeting chaired by Health minister K K Shylaja and attended by Kozhikode and Malappuram district collectors and top officials of the health department here.
One victim in Kozhikode District is reportedly a nurse.
The resolution, moved by Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader K.V. Baburaj, who is also the chairman of the Corporation Health Standing Committee, pointed out that suspected Nipah patients were now being quarantined at the medical college hospital. It is a serious health crisis that has stricken Kerala but with adequate precautions and care, the virus spread has been able to control. "Likewise, those people who can't live without eating beef should not come to Haryana", he had said responding to a question whether the state would issue special permit for foreigners who want to consume beef. Its symptoms are headaches, fever, bodyache, cough, problems in breathing, vomiting, diarrhoea, laziness and others.
