Coming to the display, the Redmi Y2 features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.
Of the three rumoured Redmi 6 phones, while the Redmi 6A will likely be an ultra-affordable phone, the Redmi 6 should be a budget phone while the Redmi 6 Plus/Pro version will likely be priced at around Rs 10,000.
Pitted against the Note 5, the Y2 is in for an interesting fight ahead.
Lastly, the Note 5 Pro also wins in the app department.
Let's try and figure out which of the two is the better buy.
Xaomi recently launched its Flagship Smartphone Mi 8, with excellent features, and is now all set to launch its next venture. Xiaomi brought the Redmi 5 as is to India, while the Redmi 5 Plus was rebranded as Redmi Note 5. The phone gets a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. MIUI is Xiaomi's own user interface, which powers its phones. Now, the company is up for launching the new S series smartphone in India on 7th of June. The design itself is slightly altered, and the antenna bands no longer intersect the camera module. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC (up to 2GHz), paired with an Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB/ 4GB of RAM.
The rear side features dual camera sensors consisting of 13MP and 5MP sensors with support for Bokeh mode, while the front camera offers an 8MP sensor. It is weird that despite having space for touch capacitive buttons, Xiaomi went for on-screen buttons on the phone. RAM and storage variants too are the same as available on the Note 5. It's the same setup as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and it would be interesting to take it for a whirl in different conditions to see how it fares. On the front, the device sports a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, AI portrait mode, AI beauty mode and an LED flash.
On the battery front, the Redmi Y2 features a 3080 mAh battery which the company claims can last a full day under normal usage.
Well, the answer to this question is not that simple. At this price, this setup is good for offering nice performance and improved battery life.
Why these two phones you may ask? It's definitely the more capable shooter here.
But for now, all you need to know is that the Redmi Y2 continues Xiaomi's strong showing in this category.
Since the phone is selfie-centric, Manu Kumar Jain spent most of the time talking about the cameras.
And that's where the Y2 comes in.
Xiaomi has been trying to make more sense out of SMS from businesses for a few MIUI releases now like parsing railway tickets from IRCTC in a more readable format, adding logos and names for automated messages, and more. The screen itself is about the same as what we've seen past year, but taller because of the switch to the 18:9 form factor.
