A suicide bomb attack at an election rally in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar has killed at least 14 people, including prominent local politician Haroon Bilour, police said.
Another 65 people were wounded.
A police official said that suicide bomber exploded himself when ANP leader Haroon Bilour was meeting party cadres in Yakatoot area of Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan. The military waged a major offensive against militants in the Swat Valley in 2009.

Regarding the suicide attack, he said: "these are terrorists we are dealing with".
As many as 66 people were injured in the incident and all casualties, including the ANP leader, were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital.
Bilour's family called on his supporters to remain calm.

The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) on Monday had told a Senate standing committee that some leading political leaders faced death threats from militant outfits ahead of the July 25 general elections in Pakistan. That is more than five times the number of troops deployed during the last elections in 2013, when the security situation was much worse.
"This shows the weakness of our security institutions and a conspiracy against transparent elections", he said in a statement. Almost 1,35,000 of the troops have been called up from retirement, Ghafoor said.
The bombing at the rally was the first major attack since Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a United States. drone strike in Afghanistan in June.
