Get ready to wave goodbye to the people on the dock, because the long-awaited "Jungle Cruise" movie finally has a scheduled release date along with "Maleficent 2", as Disney stated in an updated film release schedule through 2021. It's also announced that Dwayne Johnson's new action-adventure vehicle Jungle Cruise will debut October 11, 2019, while Angelina Jolie's Maleficent 2 will hit theaters on May 29, 2020.
While the delayed release of Indiana Jones has been widely reported, it is a bit of a surprise that Mary Poppins Returns is being moved up.
Script issues are reportedly behind the delay. Disney said in 2016 that it was going ahead with a fifth installment. His age has been a running theme in the films since an often-quoted exchange in the first movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981. That's because Spielberg is in pre-production on a reboot of West Side Story and even looking at directing The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara with Oscar victor Mark Rylance.
Karen Allen, playing Jones's love interest Marion, says "You're not the man I knew 10 years ago" and Ford responds with a line that has since become famous: "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage".
Harrison Ford, seen here in Blade Runner 2049, is now appearing as Indiana Jones in 2021. The film received mixed reviews. Last month, "Solo: A Star Wars Story" co-screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan was brought on to help write the film.
We'll have more on Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Life Alert (or the City of Atlantis, the Pick of Destiny, Curly's Gold - whatever) as news develops.
