Fresh off of her appearance in Mamma Mia! Indeed, much of the present day movie plot struggles to carry it's own without Meryl - until Cher arrives, that is.

She also studied a number of Streep's "more comedic" past projects, including 1990's Postcards from the Edge, which was based on the late Carrie Fisher's semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.
It's pretty safe to say that this will hardly be the last time we see her in the spotlight, since she seems to live there.
Daily Mail reporter Jan Moir went on to praise former "Downton Abbey" star Lily James, who plays the role of a young Donna in the film, as saying if the new movie doesn't make a huge star of her, she would eat her glitterball earrings.
