But Chibnall assured her and everyone in the Hall that when he saw Whittaker read and when the crew saw her perform, everyone had the same reaction: "Oh, she's the Doctor", and he thinks she arrived just in time, saying, "We need a pillar of hope in these times, and that pillar is Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor".
Speaking ahead of the Doctor Who San Diego Comic-Con panel to Press Association about the issue, Jodie said: 'As people in the industry, as a woman in the industry, to not be aware of it [the gender pay row] would be naïve but it hasn't been a part of this show.

Although no specific air date was announced for the new season of Doctor Who, the BBC confirmed that first episode of the sci-fi series will air in October 2018.
