I support LJ. He's doing an unbelievable job for his community. "[LeBron James]. He's doing an awesome job for his community".
Lemon's questions mostly focused on James' time off the court, covering James' newly completed I Promise School in Akron, a public and nonprofit partnership created to help underserved kids in his OH hometown.
A spokeswoman for Melania Trump says it appears that LeBron James is "working to do good things" and that the first lady would be willing to visit the new school he opened in Ohio.
Trump blasted James late Friday after an interview aired with CNN anchor Don Lemon in which he deemed Trump divisive.
On Saturday night, the president took to Twitter to bash James following a Monday night interview James did with CNN's Don Lemon. James' publicist declined to respond to Mr Trump's tweet, but on Saturday afternoon, James retweeted a post from the "I Promise" school and said: "Let's get it kids!"
Mrs. Trump has stood apart from her husband's views before. "Maybe you'd like to talk about the 160,000 kids who skip school every day for fear of being bullied, or that 280,000 students are physically attacked in schools every month", Grisham told CNN.
Many, including professional athletes and the Republican governor of OH, also came critical of Trumps statements. "He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do", he wrote, and then apparently took a side in the James vs. Michael Jordan debate.
Lemon himself also chimed in and brought up the Trump administration's widely criticized "zero tolerance" immigration policy that resulted in thousands of migrant families being separated, with many held in cages and detention centers.
"I believe the president is kind of trying to divide us", James said.
James had said in an interview that Trump was divisive and had emboldened racists.
She is undeniably one of the most fashionable First Ladies, however, her presence is still a mystery.
"I support LeBron James".
James, for his part, in his first comment since the insult, tweeted a celebration of his new school instead of responding directly to Trump.
James has previously criticised Trump on several occasions, publicly supporting Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton before the 2016 election and calling Trump a "bum" in September 2017, after the president rescinded an invitation to the Golden State Warriors to visit the White House after winning the National Basketball Association title.
James has not tweeted about Trump's reaction, at least not explicitly.
Donald Trump may have picked on the wrong athlete this time.
