"All proceedings are suspended pending the determination of the Constitutional Court".
Chamisa is convinced that he won the popular vote ahead of the Zanu-PF leader who, according to ZEC, scrapped through with a slim margin of 50.8 percent to the plaintiff's 44.3 percent.
The MDC alliance filed their paperwork with Zimbabwe's Constitutional Court on Friday, alleging the result of the July 30 vote had been rigged in favour of incumbent Mnangagwa, the leader of the ruling ZANU-PF party.
Mr Chamisa tweeted: "Our legal team successfully filed our court papers".
The courts may take one day or three days but that has to be within the 14 days. We have a good case and cause!
The latest developments mean the planned inauguration of President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa, can not go ahead today as scheduled as the court has to deal with the matter first.
The party must prove that any irregularities were grave enough to change the outcome of the vote.
Chamisa wants the constitutional court to declare him the victor or call a fresh election, it is reported.
Global monitors largely praised the conduct of the election itself, although European Union observers said that Mnangagwa, a former long-time Mugabe ally, benefitted from an "un-level playing field" and some voter intimidation.
"In the alternative, we seek that there be another election which complies with the dictates of the law", Mpofu said. Given the tension in the preceding week, it is our hope that the MDC Alliance has secured adequate evidence to put up a decent fight with which they may be able to win if the court acts fairly and professionally. "But if they want to meet us in court we have sufficient legal minds to meet them squarely in court".
Also on Friday, lawyers for senior opposition figure Tendai Biti asked judges to throw out charges against him over the protests against alleged election fraud, in a case raising further global concern about the new government.
The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, established under the 2013 constitution, on Friday released a damning report into the post-election crackdown.
