In a recent interview with the press, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut - who has often been coined "anti-Pakistan" - surprised the media when she softened the stance on Pakistan and commented that she was full of hope because of Imran Khan. Prime minister Narendra Modi and India hoped for peace and development with its neighbour.
Pakistan went to polls on July 25 and Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the single largest party with 116 seats.
After the notification on reserved seats by the ECP, the PTI tally reached 158 members in the National Assembly after it secured 28 reserved seats for women and five for non-Muslims.
All members will take oath as Member National Assembly. The event will be held in Islamabad on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
Nominations for Speaker National Assembly and Governor Sindh have also been announced, but these announcements are least reflective of the party's policy to run affairs of the state.
"In parliamentary politics, it has never been easy for any party to run its functions smoothly, especially in a case when it does not enjoy even a simple majority in the House", Professor Tahir Malik, political analyst and academic, told Arab News.
Mr Bhutto-Zardari took the oath as member of parliament for the first time, whereas his father returned to the house after more than two decades. Sadiq then read out the procedure for the election of the speaker and deputy speaker.
The PTI has already nominated former speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser for the office of NA speaker and he would face Syed Khursheed Shah of the PPP, a joint candidate of the 11-party alliance, Pakistan Alliance for Free and Fair Elections. This means that the total strength of the house will be reduced from 342 to 336 after the seats are vacated. "The opposition alliance can make an impact only if it comes up with some viable suggestions to fix the system and improve governance".
