Col. Rob Manning, a Pentagon spokesman, said Thursday that the military and the White House "have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019".
Earlier this year, the White House budget chief said the parade would cost US taxpayers between $10 million and $30 million.
On Twitter, Trump accused local politicians of price gouging, although the projected $92 million cost was largely attributed to Pentagon costs for aircraft, equipment and personnel. The remainder would be been borne by other agencies and would include security costs.
Earlier this year, the White House budget director told Congress that the cost to taxpayers could be between US$10 million and US$30 million.
President Donald Trump has been a big promoter of his planned military parade on November 10. "It was two hours on the button, and was military might, and I think a tremendous thing for France and the spirit of France".
The American Legion's national commander, Denise H. Rohan, issued a statement that said the parade money would be better spent on funding the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Department of Defense says the military parade originally scheduled for Veterans Day will be postponed.
But a United States official told AFP earlier Thursday the planning estimate had now gone as high as $92 million, though no final figure has been reached.
Trump has also embraced military backdrop for several speeches and presidential visits.
Last month, the Military Times reported that initial estimates of the parade's cost were $12 million.
However, Reuters cites unnamed officials saying the parade's true cost would be three to nine times higher, at $92 million. In fact, there would be no tanks, only wheeled vehicles, due to concerns over damaging the streets (and possibly, because the Pentagon wanted to scale back the authoritarian theme).
Trump's administration has already faced a fair amount of criticism for the parade's price tag, particularly from those who think the money could better honor veterans by helping those who return to the US without the proper resources. His staff is planning the parade along a route from the White House to the Capitol, and would integrate it with the city's annual veterans' parade. French President Emmanuel Macron is holding a gathering of world leaders in Paris on November 11 to celebrate the anniversary.
The president praised the event and said: "We're going to have to try and top it".
