The series, along with the President, have been surrounded in controversy in recent weeks after former contestant-turned-Trump-staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman claimed in her book Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House that the new President had repeatedly used racial slurs, including the N word, on the set of The Apprentice.
She told CBSon Tuesday that she took these recordings to "protect herself".
Lara Trump has framed the recordings as the betrayal of a woman she considered a friend, someone she was trying to do a favor for. "I'm not going to be bullied by Donald Trump", the former Trump aide told The Associated Press this week as she seemed to dismiss a threat from Trump's campaign.
I'm ready for these tapes to be released.
In another tape released on CBS, three staff members are heard discussing the alleged tape.
'Since Donald is fully aware of however she acquired her permanent citizenship, he could, if there were anything fishy around it, expose the methods and somehow invalidate it, ' wrote Manigault-Newman. I've known Melania since she was engaged to Donald, not just married [to] him, engaged.
She also doubled down on a portion of her book's epilogue asserting, "Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce him".
"At any time, if she so desired, she could humiliate him in public with small, ambiguous gestures, just as he'd openly humiliated her with his affairs and lascivious behavior for years".
"Let's see what we can do with her".
Since releasing the tape of her firing, Manigault Newman has teased the possibility of making more recordings public.
