While we are seeing flagship smartphones around Rs 35,000 price range, the Galaxy A8 Star comes with mid-range specifications.
Samsung claims that Galaxy A8 Star's rear camera can intelligently adapt to lighting conditions and choose the flawless lens, according to the prevailing conditions. The exact launch date is not known as of now, but the smartphone will go on sale exclusively via Amazon India on August 27.
Starting things off with the display, the Galaxy A8 Star rocks a 6.28-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display on the front, carrying a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels. The smartphone comes with Samsung's Infinity Display feature, which means reduced bezels on the side. Samsung has launched the device in only one variant. The phone will also get a dedicated Bixby button, and if it's like the Galaxy Note 9 then you won't be able to customise it. There is an Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC that includes quad-core 2.2GHz Kryo 260 and quad-core 1.8GHz Kryo 260 CPUs, coupled with 6GB of RAM.
Samsung has provided 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 400GB). Besides, the handset packs a 3,700mAh battery and measures 162.4x77x7.5mm.
It can also be used for making mobile payments using Samsung Pay.
Samsung has launched its first-ever smartphone based on Android Go, a stripped-down version of Google's mobile operating system aimed at entry-level devices. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port. The phone also has a Face Recognition feature and a fingerprint scanner at the back. This entire package comes armed with a 3700mAh battery with adaptive fast charging. The front camera is 24MP (with aperture f/2.0). The online marketplace has revealed that it will offer easy EMI options to attract customers. The phone will come in two colours, which are Midnight Black and Ivory White.
