One day after resigning from her position as finance minister, it is being reported that Kemi Adeosun has left the country.
With her admission to receiving the certificate from the unnamed persons, it is unclear if the Nigerian government will prosecute the minister in line with the provisions of the NYSC Act.
Daily Trust reports that the Finance Minister resigned over allegations that she forged her National Youth Service Corps certificate.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna, where she was born, and an MBA from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
"The PDP is also aware of plots by the Federal Government to secretly move her out of the country, and for that, we urge the worldwide community to be at alert and ensure she is repatriated to face justice in Nigeria should the Federal Government succeeds in its devious plan". He also approved the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, as her successor.
She was later appointed Managing Director of Kaduna Investment Company.
The dual Nigerian and British national did not initially comment on the claims, leading to criticism from her opponents. I only wished she had done this earlier.
President Muhammadu Buhari accepted her resignation on Friday night, 69 days after PREMIUM TIMES first published a detailed investigation of how she obtained the fake document and went on to secure plush employments with it, including as head of Nigeria's finance ministry.
"Upon inquiry as to my status relating to NYSC, I was informed that due to my residency history and having exceeded the age of thirty (30), I was exempted from the requirement to serve. Be that as it may, as someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have made a decision to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September, 2018".
