That said, given their start this season and two consecutive fourth-place finishes, Klopp probably won't finish eighth in the Premier League like Dalglish did, and this is what sealed the legendary Scotsman's fate. They were all used to other football teams. It says much for Liverpool's squad depth that this start has come despite Roberto Firmino missing a game with an eye injury and with Mohamed Salah some way short of his best form.
Liverpool take on Chelsea in the League Cup tonight and while I appreciate winning the Premier League or Champions League will be the priority for Klopp, there is no reason why he can't have a real go at winning a domestic cup competition.
Jorginho has played every game so far and with their countries success at the World Cup, N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have played a lot of football recently.
We know that Klopp likes to give chances to people in these early cup fixtures, and they can be influential to a player's breakthrough into the team. So you have natural runs in a team.
"So that's it. They always need time".
"He had a very intense period before that; he trained with the fitness guys already for 10 days or so before we took him then in normal training". Otherwise, to improve something you would give yourself half a year to really make the next step in whatever kind of career.
"Football players are used to that", added Klopp.
It would certainly please the supporters to see Fabinho get his chance in the team and they were more than impressed his performances during pre-season. We are not changing these players. After all, Carlo Ancelotti's side does not look quite as ferocious as Sarri's Napoli did last season, and, in the group stage, particularly after the opening win over PSG, there is perhaps a little room to maneuver. Because they are here because of what they did and now we have to work on that it fits.
It's a conundrum that has resulted in numerous questions for Klopp and no more so given Fabinho's potential full debut against Chelsea this week.
