Hours before Trump was due to address reporters, a third accuser came forward to allege Kavanaugh engaged in inappropriate behavior in high school.
Donald Trump, 72, has been president for over 20 months, but in all of that time he's only given four press conferences.
"If I thought he was guilty of something like this, sure", he said. I want to watch. "Somebody could come and say, '30 years ago, 25 years ago, 10 years ago, five years ago, he did a frightful thing to me.'. and honestly, it's a very unsafe period in our country and it's being perpetrated by some very evil people. because some of them know that this is just a game that they're playing".
Trump said he was sceptical because he personally had been the target of "false statements" in the past made by various women.
"It does impact my opinions because I've had a lot of false charges made against me", he said. "People want fame, they want money, they want whatever".
The comments came as Trump blasted the numerous accusations that have come against Kavanaugh in recent days and added that he would be watching the hearing where Dr. Christine Blasey Ford will testify on Thursday.
Kavanaugh has also been accused of exposing himself to a classmate, Deborah Ramirez, during an alcohol-fueled Yale University party a few years later.
The Kavanaugh nomination has turned into a political firestorm ahead of November congressional elections and is threatening to derail Trump's push to get a conservative-minded majority on the top court ahead of the vote. I've been a famous person for a long time ...
Trump, however, did not spare Democrats - or lawyer Michael Avenatti, for that matter.
"You're doing very well", Trump said, urging the reporter to say "Thank you, Mr. Trump" for the newspaper's increased business.
"And you know what, I could be persuaded, also", he said.
