Scott's campaign filed the lawsuits late Thursday, when he said during a news conference that "unethical liberals" are trying to steal the election. The Florida secretary of state is Ken Detzner, a Republican appointed by Scott.
Lawyers for Snipes argued that requiring such a swift response would interfere with ongoing efforts to finish counting Broward County ballots. If the signature on the ballot envelope doesn't match state records, the vote is rejected.
Broward and Palm Beach Counties and the notorious "hanging chad" were focal points of the 2000 presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore that was decided by the Florida vote, which Bush won by 537 votes out of almost 6 million cast. In that race, incumbent Sen. Trump tweeted: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach".
At 5 a.m., Scott held only a 38,717-vote lead over Nelson.
"Some believe that this is simply rank incompetence", Scott said.

The deadline for all 67 Florida counties to submit their first set of unofficial returns is Saturday at noon ET, according to the secretary of state's office.
He said Broward County election officials "have a history of violating the law". Elias said it was odd that the undervoting was happening at the top of the ticket, rather than downballot.

In a machine recount, all completed ballots are re-fed through ballot-counting machines to try to confirm the original, unofficial counts.
Since Tuesday's election, "it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported", Gillum spokeswoman Johanna Cervone said in a statement, amid reports that unknown numbers of ballots had yet to be counted in Democrat-leaning Broward County.
