As of Sunday morning, the Camp Fire had killed 23 people and burned through roughly 109,000 acres - about 164 square miles - in Butte County, according to Cal Fire.
The death toll from the wildfire has hit 29, matching that of the deadliest to hit California, a local sheriff said on Sunday. He said at least 36 firefighters lost their own homes, most in the Paradise area. "Imagine a leader who cares more for his own, convenient opinion than he does for the people he leads".
The bodies of two people have been discovered in Malibu but it is unclear whether their deaths were caused by fire. Celebrity website TMZ reported that the Malibu home of Caitlyn Jenner was destroyed on Friday.
Many others including Orlando Bloom, Alyssa Milano, Lady Gaga, The Office actor Rainn Wilson and fashion designer Donna Karan were among evacuees.
"At a time when our every effort should be focused on vanquishing the destructive fires and helping the victims, the president has chosen instead to issue an uninformed political threat aimed squarely at the innocent victims of these cataclysmic fires", the statement continued. The blaze, dubbed the Camp Fire, was driven by dry conditions and strong winds.

The entire nearby city of Calabasas, home to more than 20,000 people, was placed under a mandatory evacuation order by city officials on Sunday evening.
Flames engulfed hospitals, homes and other structures as it whipped through Paradise.
With the devastation and loss of life in the Northern California fire, "it's evident from that situation statewide that we're in climate change and it's going to be here for the foreseeable future", he said. The president made the comments as the state is battling multiple deadly wildfires. They were backed up by helicopters and water tankers.
But fire officials working in steep terrain that's hard to reach say they are short of crews and equipment, with many resources deployed in Northern California to fight the Camp Fire.

Santa Ana winds, produced by surface high pressure over the Great Basin squeezing air down through canyons and passes in Southern California's mountain ranges, are common in the fall and have a long history of fanning destructive wildfires in the region.

Gov. Jerry Brown said he is requesting a major-disaster declaration from President Donald Trump that would make victims eligible for crisis counselling, housing and unemployment help, and legal aid.
But he contended, "There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor". He said "billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests".
California Professional Firefighters president Briace Rice also labelled the tweet as "ill-informed, ill-timed and demeaning".
