Trump introduced six American veterans of the Second World War and an USA eighth-grader who saved money for two years so he could attend the ceremony to honor the heroes of WWI.
They have just come from a ceremony to commemorate the Armistice that ended World War I at the base of the Arc de Triomphe.
Without mentioning US President Donald Trump by name, French and German leaders and the United Nations head railed against Trump's world view and the dangers of disregarding global norms as they spoke at the start of the Paris Peace Forum on Sunday. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders cited security protocols for the presidential motorcade's solo trip down the grand flag-lined avenue, which was closed to traffic. She had slogans, included the words "Fake" and "Peace", written on her chest.

Trump and Macron also agreed on the need for more European defense spending.
Trump´s visit, which kickstarts two days of events marking the centenary of the end of World War 1 on Sunday, had looked set to be tumultuous after he fired off a tweet on arrival in Paris late Friday berating Macron´s calls for a European army.
And on Sunday night when Macron opened his inaugural Paris Peace Forum, a gathering of presidents, prime ministers, politicians and executives, he marveled at how leaders of countries that were bitter enemies a century ago, were now close friends, seated in the audience.
"Through rain, hail, snow, mud, poisonous gas, bullets and more, they held the line and pushed onward to victory", Trump said. You know what I am? "We have a lot of problems".
But neither he nor Russian President Vladimir Putin joined other leaders in a symbolic walk up the Champs-Elysees to the monument. Putin shook Trump's hand, flashed him a thumbs-up sign and patted Trump's arm.
Trump and Putin arrived separately from other leaders at the commemorations, which took place in the rain.
After the ceremony, leaders returned to the Elysee for a lunch hosted by Macron, while the spouses lunched at Versailles.
"[It] is a betrayal of patriotism", Macron said at an global ceremony honoring World War I service members.
The geographical spread of the more than 60 heads of state and government who attended, silent and reflective, showed how the "war to end all wars" left few corners of the earth untouched but which, little more than two decades later, was followed so quickly and catastrophically by the even deadlier World War II.
Trump, who attended a WWI memorial service in Paris earlier in the day but snubbed the peace conference, is a proud nationalist who has made "America First" his political slogan.
Trump arrived without his wife, Melania, who is visiting Versailles Sunday with Macron's wife, Brigitte Macron.
Trump initially planned to begin a tour this weekend of memorial events in and around Paris by observing a moment of silence on Saturday at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial, where U.S. Marines and other troops won a brutal victory over Germany in June 1918.
