Man tries to save a dummy hanging off a roof not realizing that it's a decoration inspired by the classic scene in 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation'.
Norwood was captured running toward the home then trying to wrestle the ladder free from a string of lights to get it close to the dummy's feet.
For some people the display looked a little too realistic because someone rushed to help thinking it was a real person - they even called 911 along with about a dozen other people.
'Exept when I started talking to him, he never said nothing!'
Ms Wheless said: "He was doing everything he could to get the ladder!" The officer said they've seen this kind of display before, but they were getting calls about it. "And be like 'Save Clark!'" Heerlein's sister-in-law Leah Wheless said.
Austin police eventually arrived after the 911 call.
The family has also reached out to the passerby to thank him for his concern, according to KVUE. So, they called him, thanked him and are giving him a gift card as an apology.
Since then, the family added a sign to the bottom of the display that explains the decoration for anyone else who might be concerned.
"She was scared that something like this was going to happen and I said, 'No one will think this is real, '" Chris told Inside Edition.
