Captain Marvel is here, and she's ready to end war.
Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have revealed the brand new poster for Captain Marvel and announced that the new trailer for the film will debut tomorrow night during Monday Night Football! The souped up superhero shows off her powers and goes a round with Talos, the Skrull leader, played by Ben Mendelsohn.
CAPTAIN MARVEL is produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. We'll find out when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019. Besides introducing the first female headlined Marvel superhero flick, Captain Marvel is important also because of the implications it has for Avengers 4. Although, we don't know his name yet, some speculate that it could be Mar-Vell.
Fans took to Twitter to discuss the latest trailer for the Marvel film. But, while Avengers 4 is shrouded in what is most likely the most secrecy in cinematic history, Marvel Studios aren't letting much slip on the Captain Marvel front, either. You can already see shades of DeConnick's influences in the trailer: the movie version of Captain Marvel wears an iteration of the suit popularized in DeConnick's run, and we get a few glimpses of the iconic mohawk helmet. It seems the character is based on Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is mixed with that of an alien post an accident.
Carol sees herself as a Kree as much as a human, so the fact that she leaves Earth to defend the Kree Empire in the film should come as no surprise. And she gets unintentionally involved in their war. In the comics, the cat has an encounter with Rocket Raccoon, who tries to stop the Flerken from laying eggs but fails as they are produced in a gooey hive all around the Captain Marvel ship.
