"I just tried to make an aggressive move and dunk", Wiggins said of the play. "He tried to contest it". I didn't really see it until I saw him on the ground. "I hope nothing but the best for him". "I hope he gets healthy soon and comes back stronger".
Wiggins, from Vaughan, Ont., thought Schroder's actions were unwarranted.
The comments came after the Timberwolves 119-117 win Tuesday evening, when Wiggins told reporters that Schroder "was acting insane for no reason".
After video circulated of Wiggins' statement, the 23-year-old took to Twitter to apologize - and claimed he said "getting" instead of "gay".
Players immediately called for medical attention, and a stretcher was brought out for Noel. Towns played less than nine minutes in the first half after picking up his third foul with 6:35 to go before half.
As Wiggins elevated, his elbow caught Noel flush to the face, dazing him. I looked right through it.
Tensions flared from there, particularly with Schroder, who at one point yelled, "What are you laughing at?" to the Timberwolves' bench.
While speaking with the media, Wiggins was asked about the Schroder altercation and he had some not so nice things to say about him.
Noel's injury overshadowed a superb performance from Wiggins, who finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, shooting 11 of 24 from the field.
After play resumed, Schroder and Teague had to be separated. Westbrook was fouled on the next possession, sunk two free throws before two game-winning 3-point attempts at the buzzer.
