United States tabloid claims Jeff Bezos has been dating former TV anchor Lauren Sanchez since June WASHINGTON Hours after Jeff Bezos announced his divorce from his wife of 25 years MacKenzie came reports that the Amazon CEO has been involved with a former TV anchor for the past seven months. "As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have chose to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends", read the statement signed by both of them".
"Jeff remains focused on and engaged in all aspects of Amazon", a company spokesperson said in a statement.
According to U.S. tabloid National Enquirer, Bezos, 54, and Lauren Sanchez, 49, a helicopter pilot and former Fox anchor, have been dating since June.
In their statement on Wednesday, Jeff and MacKenzie said they had been going through a "trial separation" in recent months.
According to CNBC, Bezos would have to shell out billions in cash and shares to MacKenzie, 48. The couple originally met as colleagues at NY hedge fund D.E. Shaw. She served as the initial host on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, and has been a contributor to TV shows including The View, Larry King Live, Showbiz Tonight, and The Joy Behar Show.
President Donald Trump, who has frequently attacked Bezos and Amazon while in office, was asked by reporters about the divorce today.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA - FEBRUARY 27: Patrick Whitesell and Lauren Sanchez arrive at the Vanity Fair Oscar party hosted by Graydon Carter held at Sunset Tower on February 27, 2011 in West Hollywood, California.
Even so, the news puts the fortune of the world's richest man and the ownership structure of an era-defining, global powerhouse in a state of flux. She reportedly met Bezos through Whitesell. She has a teenage son from her first marriage to former National Football League player Tony Gonzalez.
The couple could have devised a postnuptial agreement to do so on their own, and likely have a deal meant to not rock Amazon. "I'm in the process of converting my Amazon lottery winnings into a much lower price of admission so we can go explore the solar system". MacKenzie Bezos would also need to file a similar record if she received more than 5 per cent of Amazon stock.
Even if Bezos were exempted from filing a Form 4, he would be required to update promptly the record of his Amazon holdings on file with the SEC if his position in the company changed by 1 per cent or more, said D.C. securities lawyer Thomas Gorman.
