Earlier Monday, Harris County Public Health said two boys under the age of two and a 25 to 35-year-old woman were diagnosed with the measles.
Beckham said new cases of measles are becoming more common than before, saying the last time they had a confirmed case was past year.
Even though Arizona does not now have a reported case of measles, the state has one of the highest rates of exemptions for at least one vaccine that's required for childcare, kindergarten or sixth grade.
East Wenatchee - Although Chelan and Douglas Counties do not now have a confirmed case of measles, public health officials are working closely with school districts and healthcare providers throughout Chelan and Douglas County to ensure students and staff are up-to-date on their vaccines.
The health department is encouraging anyone who may have symptoms of measles to contact your doctor.
As they bring awareness locally to the community, Espinoza said, her public health counterparts in southeast Texas are trying to pinpoint the reason behind the cases there.
"These individuals did everything right", said Jennifer Vines, M.D., deputy health officer with Multnomah County.
The CDC said that at least eight other states have reported cases of the measles in 2019: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Oregon.
This adds to the national measles outbreak seen across the county.
Vaccination remains the most effective method for preventing measles, according to the Bell County Health District. Anyone born since 1978 who is unsure if they have received two doses of a measles containing vaccine, such as MMR, should speak with their GP.
Clark County Public Health has been regularly updating its list of locations where people may have been exposed to measles.
"Before the measles vaccine, we had an increase in measles, and then, when the measles vaccine was created, it started getting more and more people vaccinated", Beckham said. There were 200 vaccinations given per day last year in that last week of January, and 600 per day this year.
Measles infection typically causes a rash, fever, conjunctivitis (red eyes), cough or runny nose. A person can spread the virus before they show symptoms. 1-2 people out of every 1,000 who become infected with measles will die.
