The snow will then change over to sleet, freezing rain and rain from north to south. For the evening, we will likely see a transition back to snow as the system departs the region. It was expected to taper off in time for the Monday morning commute, but the next storm was on its way later in the day.

Precipitation is expected to start in Western Massachusetts around noon on Tuesday, beginning in Boston around 3 p.m.
In comparison, Seattle normally expects 0.7 inches of snow every February. That would turn the snow into regular old rain.
Monday night: Clouds increase late at night.
More than a foot of snow (30.5 cm) was recorded in some areas, including on the Olympic Peninsula. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire state for a period of snow, followed by a change to wintry mix and rain. "There is a chance that the combined amount of snow, sleet and freezing rain reach levels that would eventually warrant a warning". Behind this system, a gusty westerly wind will kick up by Wednesday afternoon (as high as 40 mph).
Conditions are expected to be mild, however, with high temperatures near 45 Wednesday, 42 Thursday, 49 Friday, and 51 Saturday, forecasters said.
Residents more accustomed to rain than snow were digging out from a winter storm while bracing for more.
The next storm at the end of the week appears to be all rain with very mild air.
