Brad Stevens downplayed the impact and importance of Morris' words.
Adding insult to injury - or maybe injury to insult - the Celtics lost Kyrie Irving to a right knee sprain in the second quarter, and the All-Star point guard did not return. The Clippers came back from 28 points down to beat the Celtics 123-112, the biggest comeback in Clippers' history.
The Celtics now stand in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Clippers have enjoyed plenty of bright spots during the season, but I wouldn't expect too much from them the rest of the season as they have no intentions to make the playoffs if the trade of Tobias Harris was anything to go by.
Irving is averaging 23.6 points and 6.9 assists through 47 appearances this season.
"I watch all these other teams in the league, guys jumping on the bench, jumping on the court.when I look at us I see a bunch of individuals". Now, Morris is calling on his teammates to put any drama behind them and focus on winning.
"For us to be a championship team, this (stuff) has to change", Morris said.
"I just want to win and I want to have fun - we gotta have fun doing this thing man", he continued. If they want to take me out of the starting lineup, get some juice in there, I'm with it. That's the goal. Trade deadline's over. "I'm trying to win".
"This is the team we're rocking with". So, at the end of the day, man... it's unacceptable what we did tonight.
