Reports now emerging indicate that you should not be expecting any dramatic changes in the new Apple AirPods 2 when compared to what is available in the existing AirPods. And what may be another signal of that idea is an entire event scheduled to unveil that service. There is speculation that we might hear about the company's long rumoured Apple News subscription service at the event, however a report claims Apple is facing some resistance over the alleged plan to keep half of the revenue generated by the service.
Apple is known to be working on a video content platform that could include original TV shows and films, as well as a separate media subscription service that would allow unlimited access to magazines - just like the Texture app it acquired previous year.
Along with the AirPods, Apple may also have a new iPad Mini up its sleeve.
The event would mark Apple's first major product announcement for 2019.
Some publishers are also reportedly concerned they likely won't get access to subscriber data such as credit card information and email addresses, which can help news organizations build their customer databases. The service will offer original content from Apple, available for free to Apple device owners, as well as a platform that lets users subscribe to other digital services.
So, circle that date on the calendar with a pencil just in case.
