Just over a month removed from Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios have dropped a new, surprise trailer for what's nearly certainly going to be the biggest film of the year. There is precious little action on display, because presumably, most of it takes place in the latter half of the film - and Marvel has suggested that the marketing material will be restricted to the opening 30 minutes. In the next black and white scene, Captain America is carrying a flag-draped casket with only the red stripes of the flag in color. Mostly black-and-white, it's bleak and intense, and gives us more information about the Avengers' game plan to bring their fellow superheroes back to life after Thanos' snap. The new suit could possibly be used to travel through the Quantum Realm or to fight Thanos. None of us can go back. The "starting over" bit is the most interesting, considering how most of the conversation around the film has touched on the possibility of alternate dimensions being introduced into the MCU, thereby allowing old characters to organically make way for the new.
As if that wasn't enough, a stunning new poster has arrived too - pore over that here. We all know otherwise, however.
During the closure of the trailer, Captain Marvel is seen in the Avengers headquarters and Thor approaches her while grabbing his hammer from far away.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) says at the end of the trailer, pointing to their newfound ally: "I like this one".
The trailer sets up an epic battle - which Stark's Iron Man looks set to be a part of, along with Captain America, Black Widow, Ant Man, Ronin, Bruce Banner (and hopefully Hulk), Rocket, War Machine, Thor and Captain Marvel.
Tony Stark isn't trapped in space anymore, but everyone is still super sad, so that was a fun thing to wake up to first thing in the morning. Avengers: Infinity War generated over $2 billion in ticket sales worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
